Well, my first week on the new program is done. Went to weight in and came in at 403, down from 411 :D
Also hit 10 miles on the bike which was a new time high for me :)
thanks for all your help so far guys in answering all the questions I have, heres to more weightloss this weel :)
Well done, 10mi is no small distance for someone starting out.
This sounds brutal to me. You have my respect at even attempting this routine. I started cycling eight months ago at 270lbs. Heart rate was 84 and BP 142/90.
Today I'm 225-230, HR 56-62, BP 130/80.
Another 10 or so lbs and I'll call it good. I think 10 miles was what I started at. I did that for about two weeks then felt good about going 20. After that I took just off and didn't look back. Somewhere along the way I stopped at my LBS and they swapped the fat knobbies for some suitable pavement tires. What a difference that made! Now I ride about 130 mi/week and will start training this week for the Seattle to Portland run coming up in July.
I don't diet - just ride alot. I don't have the discipline.
Good luck! Don't get discouraged - you've given yourself a difficult task with the dieting. A pound or two a week is normal. Sometimes you won't lose any for awhile. Keep riding!

Great job!
My bike is on order and due in May. :(
What are you riding? I am interested in riding for weight loss myself.

My compiments for taking the plunge into a lifestyle change. You have jumped in ,geting both feet wet. I too sometimes overtrain, knowing the DOMS is coming, but when I recover, the results seem worth it.
ICM's statement on weight loss is a good theory. One or two pounds a week is safe and people who take this route tend to keep the pounds from returning. Enjoy your new goal in life.
P.S. Did you join the bike club?
Thorton, more power to you mate! You rock the party that rocks the body!

Keep up the good work!
Once you get out on the road you will gain the other benefits of cycling... the scenery, the (relatively) fresh air... And still get the exercise you are getting now on the stationary bike.
I hope to hear about or see you on an organized century some day.
