Anyone know if the ellipse rims accepts brakes? I've got a set and it looks like there is a brake surface but wanted to confirm this. nothing on teh mavic site regarding this.
want to slap on some front brakes for the nahbs rally from sf to sj this weekend.
Not sure about that particular rim, but here's some info on machined sidewalls:

Was on the Mavic Site looking for some sort of contact info and they list absolutley none which is pretty lame. They shouldn't make it so hard to contact them. Makes me think twic of ever purchasing another one of their products.
it doesnt have any braking surface described on their site, i'm guessing no. its also designed for track (not street) use.
A courier here has used them with a front brake for almost a year. No problem.. of course the anodizing is worn off..

yeah i ran a front brake with those for a few months, no prblems except the finish is toast. the sidewalls work with brakes just fine...
Why not use a different front wheel for the ride?
You're going to ruin the finish on a pretty $$$ wheel.
