Advocacy & Safety - Something new in Portland, OR

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Actually this project has been in the works for about 10 years but the signs have installed recently. What I thought might be of interest to the A&S forum is this posting on the BikePortland.org blog which outlines the project and has a good back and forth discussion between some Portland cyclists and the City of Portland Bicycle Coordinator. I think it underscores the value of having a Bicycle Coordinator in the agency that is responsible for local transportation issues.

Interesting. Too bad I never make it east of the river. I'm always in the Hillsboro/Tualatin/Wilsonville area.
I agree with a few of the comments there; my first thought was that the type was a bit small. But it does add legitimency to the cyclists on the road. Motorists have their signs directing them to points of interest; now we have ours.
