Hello from the East Coast, USA. Been lurking about different forums for a while, and thought I'd try interacting for a change. Myself, I'm a (female) roadie, love long fast rides along quiet country roads, but then again, who doesn't? Once I became a serious cycling junkie, I lamented that not a one of my close circle of friends shares my obsession. Hence, aside from my riding buddies, who I only see out on the road, I felt a keen lack of community with whom to share my love of this sport. Hence...lurking the forums.
My biggest thrill this year was spending three weeks in France, two of those weeks following the Tour de France, and cycling up and down the very mountains the peloton races on. My favorite moment (long moments, really!) was riding up Mt. Ventoux hours before the pros came through... the crowds cheered me all the way up, even got a few pushes. It was inspiring!
Yes, I am also a racing junkie... but I don't race. I like to train like I will some day, but that is just part of the fun of riding for me.
Well, I don't know if I'll post often, but at least you now know where I'm coming from!
