Very interesting idea. The fact that they're even mindful of the negative impact of a race is impressive for a coporate-sponsored event.

good. i found this particularly interesting:
"Clif Bar & Co. will fund the purchase of enough renewable energy credits to offset the estimated 518 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2 is the main contributor to global warming) produced in association with the event."
although i think that figure should be compared with the amount of carbon dioxide that would be created if the event didn't take place, i still think it's the right way to go.
