Hi,
I have a few bikes and I live in Northern Maine. In winters the temperature averages below freezing and sometimes gets below zero. I have a shed that I keep my bicycles in. The temperature is the same as the outdoors. Is this bad for my bikes. How do you people store your bikes in the cold weather.
-thanks
My bikes all stay inside the house at all times. I have too much invested in them to leave them outside. I do wish I had a heated garage to store them in though.

Do you have any proof that the outside cold is bad for a bicycle???
Nope, but would you keep $20,000 in bikes outside?

During our brutally cold Winters my bikes stay in the garage and are kept warm by the waste heat from the water heater and refridgerator.

(your bikes will be fine, just cold)

Hank, outstanding use of fridge. Every human should have a fridge in their garage devoted to beer.

CAN I HEAR A +1?!?!
I haven't gotten that far yet in my alcoholism. I brew my own beer sometimes and would like to get a kegging system, but having that much beer at the flick of a tap would be dangerous.

The wife won't give me the go-ahead to install a tap ("we may actually use that for something other than beer someday") but it's my 26 ft3 side-by-side 'beer fridge'. Nothing in it but beverages; three shelves of beer, and the drawers are full of juice boxes for the kids. I have the 4th shelf set with only about 4" of space - just enough for leftover pizza boxes. ;)
You don't need a tap to have free-flowing beverages - nothing like just having to walk over on a hot summer day and pop one to be a significant influence on heavy consumption. I'd say that going with bottles even results in quicker turnaround than a tap - especially with practice!

Edit: oh, and to the OP - your bike will be fine outside, though I understand LowCel's desire to keep that investment, oops - collection, inside, esp in WV. While they're in a shed, try and keep them dry; water = bad.
