hello everyone, i just bought my first road bike in july and have steadily been practicing clipping in and out, turning, gears, falling etc. one ride on the bike and i was hooked. already looking forward to my next bike purchase. i also love to watch the velodrome racing here. lots of great athletes. very encouraging. :p

i have been taking a lot of spin classes too. lots of fun, good workout. it has really supplemented my riding.

i took my maiden voyage ride 3 weeks ago with my boyfriend. he is a huge road and track racer. he helped scope out the intersections for me, watched me close etc. we went early in the morning so there wasn't any traffic.

hopefully one day, i will be able to go through an intersection without wanting to hyperventilate.

Hey, I'm in P-town. Where are the Velodrome Races? Cost?

Hehe, early morning rides are always a good idea. I always tell my firends I'm more scared riding the roads here than dropping 6 ft to flat concrete on my MTB.

Welcome and enjoy the atmosphere on the forum and of course biking!

hey mini! the velodrome races are at Alpenrose Dairy. it's off beaverton hillsdale highway on Shattuck Road. i believe you have to have an OBRA license to race. check www.obra.org for more details. they are knee deep in cross races right now. thank you for the fine welcome.

hi from another portland-er.....

yeah, watch out for traffic. I was hit this summer. luckily, no injuries to me...just my bike. new one was paid for by insurance though.

I'll keep an eye out for you on the road. the hyperventilating lady tipping over at an intersection? kiddin'!!

:p
