I am becoming more car-lite all the time. I have been commuting to work for a while now and really enjoy the ride. My wife called to let me know her and one of the kids was sick and she needed me to bring some stuff home from the store. So I walked accross the street the the LBS and bought a grocery pannier, got the stuff from the store and rode home 5.5 miles. First time I have done that. I was a little more tired at the end of my ride as my bike was alot heavier than usual, but it went well. My wife thought I was crazy for not driving my company car home.

I have a new appreciation for the car-free lifestyle.

The benefits outweigh the difficulty most of the time. Every day is much more of a satisfying adventure when you get everywhere on your own rather than using cars. Eventually you may start to feel like any ride in a car is "cheating."

Every mile on a bike makes you stronger and healthier. Every mile in a car makes you weaker and sicker. Live strong!

Thanks. I get these ideas from reading this forum. I don't know if I would ever have thought of shopping on a bike without reading the many exploits of the people on this forum.

Grats! The more you do this, the easier it gets. At one point it becomes a bit more trivial and you start wondering why ppl wonder how you can do this. :)
