I restarted my computer and started firefox(the newest version). My skin is gone and back to the original. My extensions are still there but the bookmarks are all gone and my start page is now the firefox site like a fresh install would be. Anyone know what happened and/or if I can get my bookmarks back somehow?
Thanks for any help.

Has already happened to me twice over the past 2 years or so. No idea why. Bookmarks go, but extensions stay (I never changed the skin)
I haven't had this happen to me, but I only use the OE skin.
If you click: Bookmarks> Manage Bookmarks> File> Import... You'll be able to import them from Internet Explorer, Netscape or a file (if you've exported them to a file for back up)
Hope this helps a bit.

That has happened to my girlfriend's computer before. I also have no idea why it happens... but it works well without the skins.

I don't use FireFox, but I've heard of this problem. See if it created a new profile. If it did, see if you can transplant your bookmarks.htm file from the old one to the new one. So goes the conventional wisdom, anyway. Good luck!

The directory to your profile got changed. Typically it's in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.s8k
Or some such. What happens when you install a new copy of Firefox is that it may create a second profile directory default.s9r or some thing different. Check the Profiles folder to see how many profiles you have. Check out the bookmarks.html file in each directory to see if it's your old list. Copy it to a safe place for backup. Then copy it into the new profile directory that Firefox is using. :)
Another thing you can do is copy the entire contents of your old profile into the new profile folder. This will then carry over ALL your old settings like skins, default homepage, bookmarks, download-directory, file-type handling, etc.
Also check in the directory DannoXYZ mentioned if you have a folder named "bookmarkbackups". I have one which seems to keep backups of bookmarks for the last few days.
