Track Cycling - Discovery Channel at our Velodrome.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

A couple of weeks ago Discovery Channel visited our Velodrome - The Forest City Velodrome (http://www.forestcityvelodrome.ca/index.html) - to shoot footage for their technology program "Daily Planet". They were there for two days featuring the builder Albert, our Juniors and the Short Track Championships where '82 World Champion Gord Singleton won the elite sprint event.

Last night the footage was on TV and is now on the Daily Planet's website (http://www.exn.ca/dailyplanet/)

Go down to "Bikes on the Brink". When it leaves the front page it will still be in the archives.

More footage is supposed to be on Friday's Discovery Channel Daily Planet but I don't know the time yet.

I'm so happy for Albert. He's been a track builder, rider and supporter his whole life and this must be a dream come true for him. He truly deserves this.

For those of you outside Canada, I think Daily Planet is maybe just a Canadian program. No matter - the whole TV coverage is in the vid clip.

Good stuff!!

I never did make it to the velodrome, but it's still on my list! The folks live in Woodstock still, so maybe one of these days...!
