Training & Nutrition - My "Hey, I'm Broke - Might as Well get Light" Fitday Post

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm a 22 yo male, 6'2 206lbs. Fairly low body fat, so I'm trying to lose some muscle (yes ladies and gents, it's true) along with what excess blubber I do have.

I recently suffered a fairly disabling knee-injury in a skiing accident, and may be undergoing surgery in the next month or so. That being said, I had previously been putting off my 'muscle off' as I'd lined myself up for some fairly demanding military activities which I'd need my horse-strength intact for. Now, with a screwed up knee my muscle mass condition is the least of my worries, and I can drop some of the pounds I've been needing to to be a more competitive cyclist (and eventually runner - if the knee plays nice).

My physical therapist okay'd me to ride my bike - an activity I've kept on the trainer so far, as I don't feel confident enough in the condition of my knee, so my activity calories burnt are just a guess based upon perceived exertion.

Two weeks since beginning my effort in earnest...

Currently 202lbs.

Progressing nicely :) The long hours on the trainer over the last 2 weeks paid off well when I actually rode on the road yesterday and today. Very fast (for me anywho) rides on both days, and 162ish miles total.

MRI on Wednesday to determine what's wrong with my knee, but riding doesn't seem to hurt it at all.

Below 200.

Zoom. Less me = more speed. Amazing how that works out.

Averaging 2500cals intake, 4000cals burnt.

Since the knee injury rehab beginning on the 1st of March, counting trainer "miles" I've done nearly 550 miles and burnt 25,000 calories on the bike. MRI results may be coming tomorrow...

In same boat, was 210 Feb 1st. This morn 197 rode 1 hour on road and lifted weights for 30 min. I cant believe the foods you are eating. I could not stuff myself like that. I had around 15-1600 today and Im about to bust. Burnt 3800.

Good job, keep it up. Heres my Fitday scores.

You've done 550 miles on the trainer in half a month?

Not all on the trainer. On the trainer, and starting last Saturday, on the road.

Make that 570 today :)

Oh, yeah - and I just got my MRI results showing that my ACL is blown. Whee. I'll gets my trainin' while I can pedal...hopefully the ACL won't cost me too much time off the bike.

That sounds like a good plan, Snuffy, and it looks like your keeping it up

Fitday's a cool website, btw. Hadn't heard of it before... I'm 5' 8" 135 lbs and I want to loose 10 lbs to improve my climbing and I think something like that would be a big help. Thanks.
