Road Cycling - new bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Bought my first road bike(Specialized Allez A1 27 Sport) last spring. Have an itch to upgrade. Is it too soon or should I stay where I am for a while longer?
Duffy,
LOL. Great buy! I bought the same bike a few months ago. Like you, it's my first road bike. I'm not gonna touch anything for a while due to a lack of funds. Actually, I did replace the pedals with Eggbeaters. I'm curious as to what other people will say.
BTW, I've posted about my bike a few times now (2nd time today). Sorry, if people are reading the same thing about me.

you may want to get a few more miles in on the bike before you upgrade, (have you been riding continously since spring?) the more miles you put on the bike the easier it is to see why certain upgrades may be worth (or not worth) the cost. Also consider the type of riding you will be doing, if you plan to race or you just ride for recreation, it all comes into play. nice bike at any rate :)
Been riding pretty consistent. Shorter days and kids in school prevent me from riding as much as I would like. Am inclined to hang on to it for a little longer. LBS is having some decent markdowns however.

if you find a good deal (and check net prices to see if it is a good deal) and have the extra cash, go for it by all means :)
these are good places to compare part prices.www.nashbar.com (http://www.nashbar.com) www.performancebike.com (http://www.performancebike.com)

I'm completely jealous. I've been looking into getting one of those for a few months now, but I just can't save up enough money(i'm in college, go figure!). Right now I'm stuck with a $75 road bike from a garage sale, but hey it's gets the job done. Besides, any bike is better than no bike right!? :)
Not sure if my arms are long enough(or pockets deep enough) to scratch the itch! Does anyone have a suggestion for a logical uograde from the afforementioned cycle. Looking at &1500.00-$1700.00 price range.

LOL. I just got back from a visit with friends. While I was visiting, I have a bad itch to get on a bike, but they only had an old Schwin that they hadn't used for years. I took it down from the ceiling, put some air in it, waited to make the tubes were still holding air, and off I went.
Only had time for a 20 miler, but man it was fun. Hadn't ridden on a bike like this since I was in high school, 15 years ago. Brought back a lot memories. Been thinking about going to a yard sale and picking one up for $50 or so. It's a far cry from my Specialized S-Work M4, but man, did I have fun.
