Today I had my bike chained up outside SAIC and when i came out there was this little green card in my spokes. It read;
Hi.
I just stopped
to say that I
think your bike
is hot.
Anyone else in Chicago get one of these or have any idea who is doing them? There was a website too...I dunno, not that I mind :D but i was curious if anyone else knew what was up with this.

That happened to me too, a few years ago. Someone left a note in my front wheel saying something to the effect of "Your bike is hot".
A few weeks later, in a completely different place someone (with much less girly handwriting) left me a note that said: "give back that which is not yours"
I dunno, In either situation I think I'd prefer to be confronted face-to-face.

That 2nd note is creepy.

Screw the note. Chicks of all ages just dig ME when I'm on my fixie. Never happens on my geared bikes though....

hmm, I recently had a note taped to my handlebars that said,
"you want to sell this bike? call me"
and there was of course a phone number
never got around to it though, and damn, my bike would be considered FAR from hot by standards these days

I left a note like that on someone's bike a few weeks ago and never got a response. I did, however, never see the bike again at its normal locking point.

I think it's a terrible idea to leave a note like that. It would be far too easy for someone to see it, steal the bike, and sell it to you for far more than they could pawn it for.

Cool idea. Reminds me of the "you are beautiful" stuff you see around.

If I see a bike I recognize I leave a note for the rider saying hi. If I don't recognize the bike I just leave a note saying nice bike (but only if it's nice). I feel that I'm making the world a better place in the process.

Good point. Alternate suggestions?
I've got a problem now,.. how am I supposed to tag the hot bikes I see in my area? The only time I see them is when they are being ridden, and trust me, putting things into a person's spokes while he is riding is not a good way to win friends and influence people

I was going to print some up last night, but saw this right as I was about to leave. I think I'm going to change the design so it's a folded card. Bike on the front, open it and it says 'Your Bike is Hot' or whatever...
NT - See if you can flip the handlebar the other way. Hell - make up specific cards for drops, too!
I'd be using a different bike, for sure. And probably changing the wording. Wouldn't want to rip them off too directly.
Why are we so busy at work today? I bearly have time to surf the net, let alone draw these up, print them and fold them.

For a while some dudes were going around Chicago around 1am flipping people's handlebars upside down and leaving spoke cards that said "You have been flipped by the Bum Bike Bandits". It was kinda funny 'cause you'd come out of the bar and have to ride home like a bum. Also not funny because someone had been ****ing with your bike... however you did end up with a goofy spoke card. It happened to two different friends, both of whom I laughed at. This is a much nicer but less funny version of that.
yeah i love to just sit around and watch people look at my bike when they walk by. it makes me wonder if they know about fg bikes or if they are just impressed by the natural lines that bikes have. sometimes i like to think they are just attracted to them. however several times really attractive women look at my bike and explain to their friends how a fixed gear bike works. very strange.

I came out of a building a couple of days ago to find monstertrack stickers on my bike. That was pretty awesome.

Ira, it's both "of whom I laughed at".... on topic, i've left notes on bikes before... but it was because i hadn't seen anyone else in the city riding a fix before.
