I saw that on TV a while back I guess he needed a few more gussetts around the headtube... I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to do that

I am absolutely positive that I wouldn't want to do that.

Should have stayed on the bike he used for the 1st run.

I do do that when I (rarely) drive. In the immortal words of my uncle: "It's a speed limit, you don't have to go that fast.
and ps - that video was terribly over-produced.

also: Are helmets supposed to come off in crashes?
i was thinking he kind of looked like brean in the last shot...

I thought you were supposed to go back in time if you went that fast.

Can't tell if it was the fraem or the gussett. I think the next time he tries doing that, the front triangle of the bike will be one huge gussett.

Almost no need to. If the grandmas, lowriders, and pregnant roller skates were to organize, then there really would be no need to.

I wonder how fast he was going when he hit the dirt. I mean his top speed was 100 miles an hour, I can't imagine anyone being concious after that, but I guess stranger things have happened. Would braking force have done it? Maybe Grant Peterson can use this as steel is safer than aluminum fodder.
Only watched it once, but it looked instead to me like his fork snapped at the bottom of the headtube, which would make sense b/c that's where the most stress is.
Edit: Nope, it's the headtube, since he's still holding the bars when he hits the ground.
