I've seen these up close. They're HEAVY. The components are of questionable quality. The frame (welds, material, geometry) is of questionable quality. The fork seems like it's nothing more than tubes with springs. I don't think there's any adjustment capability so you can't tune it for preload, damping, etc. The rear suspension has the swingarm pivot located really high so I'd expect there to be a lot of pedal induced bobbing. If you're just going to use it for around the block jaunts and want something cheap, it might be okay. Even then, expect to be making a lot of adjusting and fixing as the weeks and months go by. I definately wouldn't trust it out on the trails. If money's the issue, I personally would look at a used hardtail from a LBS before buying that.

That bike is a piece of shît, but if you are low on cash (which I know you are), then i'd say go for it.

if you're low on cash get a hardtail. that jeep is barely fit for normal on road use, let alone real trails

Do a search and look up jeep. We have all made many many comments on the quality of those bikes. I would save a bit more and get a xc hardtail before I would buy that beast :)

I still think you should buy used... a used hard tail, you can find some great bikes for under $300 if you look around. Ask at your LBS... check the local paper.

Please get a ht.

I was trying not to be rude earlier but that bike isn't worth 300$. The frame and bike in total weight more than most dh bikes in the post 50pnd range. The front fork with 60mm (or was is 80mm) is nothing when the average fork is now 100mm. It will be brutal to pedal and worse to pedal on a trail. Something will break quickly on it. The drive train is lower than the lowest end. The rims are generic which is just plain dangerous.

Did I mention the bike weight 50+pnds?

A ht would be higher quality and serve you better. If you are set on getting a dually...try used and spend a bit more.

Cheers.

Not trying to be a bike snob but that bike isn't worth the powder to blow it back to hell. Get a used hardtail at a LBS (many have a bulletin board for people selling their used stuff) if you want to have a bike that you can enjoy and won't break the first time you drop of a curb. Monroe does NOT make that fork nor Jeep the bike they partnered up with some cut rate toy store bike maker to stick their names on a bike so they could sell of the Jeep name. Run away don't walk RUN.And please don't take that ad copy crap seriously

its on 25lbs i put it on a scale

25? gimme a freaking break. Lemme guess, you put the front/rear tire on a scale and held the other end. Well, your hand is still supporting some on the weight, as much as half. Try picking it up and stepping on the scale. Then put the bike down, and step on the scale again. Subtract the first from the second, and you will have the bike's weight. A 25 pound bike would cost around a grand.

Your scale is off by a bunch. Unless you weighed the midget version. I have lifted there HT (should be much lighter) and it weighed more than my bike which is very beefed up at 37pnds.

I refuse to believe that bike weight less than 50pnds. If it did weight 25 pnds then my bike weight in at 12 pnds because it was half the weight :)

there are NO good full suspensions under 250, few under a grand for that matter. go read my post i put under "250 to spend..." that you wrote up previously

and what LBS carries Jeep bikes?

I DO believe that if you like, than its a good bike. If it hooks you on the sport = good bike. Come to think of it, there are not any bad bikes when someone else is doing the buying! I wish you the best with ANY purchase you make!!!

that thing looks like its not too much above the magna f/s i bought at target for 90 bucks. if you want to get an f/s then buy something at a department store 90 to 100 bucks then with your leftover cash upgrade as much of that crap on that bike as you can. but might i warn you they are freaking heavy and unless you want to bulk up by benching or curling your bike then i would might suggest buying a ht at a department store, then youll probably have about $175 for upgrading. but next time you are in the market for a new bike try savin a little more cash. :crash:

You'll be able to get a decent, reliable hardtail with your budget.

Work on upgrading the bikes engine (you), then worry about throwing money at the bike.

Ok so what kind of hardtail are you looking at?

Can We say Wal-Mart? (for that Jeep bike).

Hey Bro.. I work at a shop that sells a lot of $300 price range bikes.

you can get a good Haro V-3 or V-1 for right around $250-$325.

they're well built too. The V-1 has an aluminum frame with HUGE tubes, and it's beefy all around too. I test rode one for grins, and I was actually rather impressed for the amount you pay.

I say look into it if you can.

I agree. One thing I like about haro is their price-value for their lower priced bikes. You get a lot of bike for the money.

I've riding a jeep aluminum frame double suspension mountain bike. This is a very nice bike that adjust to my needs.. I have a big body frame well maybe not to big. I weight around 215lbs and like I said I have been riding this jeep bike for almost 2 weeks and this appears to be a heavy bike but this is just fine for my needs.. this is my experience.. the suspension is good.. but I don't ride it on trails or naked road stuff like that..

Seven years later I am still riding it.

As long as you are not riding on trails it is perfectly fine; I have one since 2001 and it's still in good shape.

But both brake cables need some tune-up I am going to do.

Plus, the original tires were really crappy I noticed while assembling it but I replaced them one year after I bought from Sears, with used Kenda.

I like what palooka said - Work on upgrading the bikes engine (you), then worry about throwing money at the bike.
