Foo - Products used to clean tiles/tub in your bathroom

Hey, can some of you recommend some products you use to get the mildew & soapsum off your tiles & bathtub?

For me, it seems like the only way to get the tiles really really clean is to use a damn toothbrush! After 2 hours of that, my back kills me.

There has to be an easier way! Anyone know the secret?

X19 tile & tub cleaner.. spray on, hose off...

Hey Danno, are you sure it's not called X14? My co-worker recommended me X14, but I couldn't find it at my local Target.

I swore I saw "X" and some other number....could have been X19.

This stuff is amazing. Wear gloves.

If your porcelin is really cruddy, use a pumice stone and scrub. A stone on porcelin? Sure. Pumice is soft, porcelin is very hard. Test it first.

Lysol Mildew and Mold can really get some tough stuff out.

CLR is also great- I can't believe how great that stuff is, but it's more for stains, like when you get those stains in your tub from the usual dripping.

I like Comet Cleanser. Does wonders for me. And Anything from Lysol is usuially pretty god. I used to use AJAX but can't seem to find anybody that carries it anymore.

I enjoy cleaning. For me its a sort of zen/meditation. The hardest part for me is getting motivated to start it. Once I've started it, there's no stopping me :p

For tub & tile, I'll use a big brush like this:

For getting at the grout, I'll use a stronger, stiffer brush:

Strangely enough, I fell for the online Oxy-Clean commercials and it really does work well. That product with the pictures of the scrubby-bubbles work well, spray on, let sit for a while and scrub with brush, then hose off.

Can someone come over to my crib and clean it? You all sound like you're willing to clean at the drop of a hat. ;)

Another voice for CLR. For the really tough soap scum, the cleaning ladies from "How clean is your house" wet cotton rags with a warm water/ vinegar 2 to 1 solution and put the rags over the soap scum as a compress. I used it on the grout just to try and the method got the grout super clean though the rags had some trouble sticking to the wall.

I use some wonderful **** called Krud Kutter. Dumb name, but works like nobody's bidness.

I use one called "The Works".....I have yet to find ANYTHING that stuff can't make disappear!

When I finally build a house, the bathroom is going to have a large drain in the middle of the floor, sealed doors, and a high-pressure water hookup under the sink. Then I'll get a spayer with an attached soap bottle and spray everything down once a month (year). It'll be glorious.

I agree. It's that way with me too. Very relaxing, and the fumes give me a mild high.

Shoot, I even wipe down the bathroom sinks at work.

On a related topic, if you have problems with mold killing caulk, there is a rubber based caulk called Solar Seal that is uneffected by any form of mold. Its for outdoor use with windows, but its perfect for bathrooms and kitchens. You won't find it except for at contractor specialty stores, but its well worth tracking the stuff down if you have mold problems and you're sick of water leaks and re-doing a caulk job every year or two instead of every 20.
