I thought that those liners would ensure that I would be flat-free for the rest of my life! Well at least they did the trick on my other bike, but those tires were fatter and more tready. Either way, at 12:30 a.m. I got a flat about 2 miles from home. I didn't really know what to do. Surprisingly enough, even after commuting for awhile, I had no type of plan for if this might happen. It is possible that I had a plan but the plan was ill-prepared itself. Basically I walked the bike about 1/4 mile to find some street lighting, changed the tube to my spare and got back going. Then, that tube went flat. I was exhausted by that point and knew that if I walked, I wouldn't be home until 1:30 or 2, which wouldn't have made me too keen on writing the 5 page paper I had put off until that night. I called my roommate and he came and picked me up. I have to say, I felt like a real dummy; I hate it when my idealism backfires and I end up sucking it up for a cushy ride in a truck.
What really hurt was that we've been getting the good old Spring winds and for once, the winds were coming from the east, just enough to push me down the hill. It was a beautiful ride up until the incident. Just thought I'd share that.
Now the early mornings/late nights are warm enough for shorts! Then again, my body tends to run warm.
