Introductions - Hello from North East Massachusetts

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi All:

I just found this forum tonight and it really spoke to me.
This is actually my second post here (first was in Clydesdales which tells you somthing right there!)

I have been riding as long as I can remember. I have a background in weightlifting and hanging out at the gym and some aerobics. But as I approach my 40th birthday, the weightlifting days are dwindling rapidly and my main focus is turning towards cycling over the weights. It's really cold here in Boston so I'm training inside on a lifecycle to get ready for spring.

I love cycling and am into the charity rides. Have ridden in 5 Boston to New York rides, the Pan Mass challenge and am riding in the MS Ride this June. My biggest claim to fame is I rode up Alpe d'Huez two years ago... in only 2:25... yes that was hours. I currently ride a Cannondale T700 with Mavic Classic Elite wheels.

This year is my year to drop some pounds so I can ride this years' centuries a little easier. As a reward for losing weight... I am going to get a new bike. I'm looking at the Giant OCR1 with some upgrades to the components, but looking at this thread has given me some more ideas.

I am married and have two wonderful kids and we all love to ride.

Hope to visit and contribute often.

Peace.
Eric

Eric, be careful man. I did the same thing... lost 40 pounds, got the new wheels and put it back on in two years! Gook luck with your plan!

Thanks for the encouragement. I have done the roller coaster weight thing for years. No one plans to put it back on. This time I'm going for the lifestyle change rather than the fad diet.

Peace.
