What is the general recommended length a seatpost should be inside the bike itself? Just wondering

3-4" is where the minimum insertion mark is on several of mine.The 4" is the only one of many that high.

I am with Pokey on this one. If you cannot comfortably keep the safety mark or at least 8 cm buried inside the seat tube, get a longer post!
