Off topic. I need to go to day clinic for laser treatment on my eyes as there is slight diabetic retinopathy. It's been arrested, but they hope they can prevent further damage and do some general laser activity to correct the problems I have with peripheral vision - alas, also down to diabetes. They say not to do any sport including riding as exercise can affect microaneurisms in the retina.

Sadly, I had some nice rides planned in the coming weekends so I guess my wife's "Honey Do" list of chores will have to be looked at. It has grown in length quite a bit.

Trying to laugh it off, but not really succeeding!:)

Bokkie,

Sorry to hear of the pending operation, and glad to hear that
it will arrest the damage.
How long are they saying no riding?
either way I wish you a speedy recovery.
even if you're not riding, we do expect you will
continue posting.

I feel for ya, I had to go a month without riding just recently. If I could, I would ride an extra 10miles for ya this weekend and send it to ya.
good luck with the recovery, and Via Con Dios

Hope all goes well with the laser treatment.

I'm well acquainted with "honey do" lists. Seems they get neglected when we're out riding. You'd think riding was more important. ;)

Bokkie,
I hear you, a broken wrist has sidlined me too, I'm on the trainer, but because of hte cast, I'm limited in my seating position... which makes it kinda even less palatable.

Ooh, this sounds on the serious side of things. Take it easy, heal well and fast. Do what the docs say, and most of all, enjoy...

Tks guys. Much appreciated. Your comments cheered me up.

Seems I'm out of the saddle for 6-8 weeks depending on the retinal scans after they've ripped my eyes to shreds with the photons!:D

Lasers are wonderful things. Hopefully, after a relatively short recovery period, you will continue to have good vision for cycling for the rest of your life. Just remember how fast vacations fly by, it really is the same amount of time. Best wishes.

How so? You can put your bike in front of your computer and sit on it while you are on the net and have a fan blowing in your face to simulate the wind. Every now and then your wife could come up behind you and kick you over to simulate that landing after your first 15' drop.:p

Recover quickly and I hope things go well.
