Anyone else ever go this route to quit?
Mostly worked...with the small problem that I'm addicted to the gum.

I used the patch, worked great. I know everybody is different, but I didn't want to trade one habit for another, and I think I would've got stuck chewing the gum a lot longer than was necessary. I didn't find anything pleasant about using the patches, it was just a chore (especially to open the ********* things), so I dropped them after a month. Haven't looked back...

Yeah I gave up like this about 8 years ago.
I weaned myself of nicotine gum by chewing normal sugar-free gum and sucking sugar-free 'fishermans friends' (I got addicted to those for a couple of years but I always had minty breath and they're a lot cheaper than cigarettes).

I'm addicted to chewing gum. Period. :o I tried smoking but I kept choking so I gave that up.

I used the gum. Did wonders for the urges. I didn't get addicted to it. I did have an occasional craving for the gum though. I only really needed 1.5 packs of the gum.
Killer addiction. I quit about 3 years ago and I still have the gum in my desk at work. Just can't get myself to throw it out...just in case.
Last "cheating" cig was over 2 years ago and made me hurl - projectile type. My body didn't know what to do with the nicotine. Think about before you light the next one. :(
