In f/u to my post about reversing brakes and the reply from cross-providence about the risk of messing up because it is reverse of your road/mt bike:

How about keeping the main levers normal (L/front, R/rear), but have a single flat handle on the LEFT side that activates the REAR brake? I know the cabling would be kind of messy, but it should be possible to get into the habit to only use the flat handle when approaching a dismount. That way there wouldn't be any confusion.

How about just dismounting on the other side???

Luckily, over here in the UK, we have the front brake on the right anyway, so I don't need to try and get used to something new.

well, apart from having to run an additional cable to the brake you would have to dismount using a top mount brake instead of the forward lever. Just reverse the brakes and get confused. Cross brakes are weak anyway.
