It was funny as heck... when Jens Voight was about to start the Prolgue, Phil Liggett said, "Now this is a beast of a man". :roflmao:
So far the coverage is pretty good.
Phil Liggett's not announcing on OLN. Do you mean Paul Sherwan? :-)
Totally blows that they're only showing first and last days of the tour. I guess they don't have the coin to travel with the stages.

Yes. It's funny how Bob Roll appends the title "Big" to every tenth rider. Big Tom Boonen, Big Bobby Julich, etc ... I like the coverage. Bob Roll is entertaining and Sherwen is the best in the business.
Boonen was wearing a helment with an antennae built in? Or something. Looked funny. Can't find any info on that one yet.
Thanks to Tivo I am. More stages!!!

Yeah, could've been him. I get confused by the British accents.
OLN's press release listed Phil Liggett, Paul Sherwen and Bob Roll doing the commentating, but there was no Phil Liggett there, nor at ToC (I know, ESPN2, but still...). Anyone know why not?

Maybe he's out of town or sick?

Maybe he's out of town or sick?I just watched last years Paris Nice (stupid Dishnetwork dropped OLN this year). Phil was not present last year either and Paul said Phil was doing his normal March/April stint in South Africa. I imagine he is soaking in the sun and drinking those great underpriced wines! Weather tommorow: Paris = 45 degres F and rain. Cape Town South Africa 75 and sunny. YOU chose! :D

Doesn't Boonen have a helmet with a diamond in it or something? Talk about bling.
I'm listening to it on Eurosport its my one and only option
(work blocks streaming video/audio). I have one
question, What the hell is Sean Kelley saying? I can barely understand him
and I've lived in South Africa (talk about strange accents), worked in UK
and never had problems before.

I've been following it on every available outlet including OLN, cyclingnews.com, and grahamwatson.com. Good race so far, Boonen did a great job in the prologue and Quickstep set him up nicely to win stage one and take the overall lead.
Boonen's helmet does indeed have a diamond in it, the helmet was featured somewhere on cyclingnews.com, but I am curious about the helmets with what appeared to be antennas sticking out the back.

Well, that would be the antenna for their radio.
Well, that would be the antenna for their radio.
Probably (at least in a prologue) to have the DS radio time splits, but would be used for more complex communication in the road stages ("hey, I'm in the team car watching OLN, and Lance doesn't look so good, Paul sherwin says he's rolling his shoulders on this climb or something, maybe we should attack him...").

If you don't want to see results, you should probably avoid threads discussing the race. Duh.
