This ever happen to you?---
You realize you're too tired not to cycle to work. So, in order to get the boost you need, you decide to ride on in.
A day without riding can be tough...

I felt pretty sleepy this morning and had to set out early.
I got on the bike and hammered. Best average for weeks.

I think they should add a few hours of sunlight to the day (don't really know how!) so that there is enough time to go for a ride everyday. :) What do you guys think?

I thought the most telling fact of my cycling addiction. Last July i flew from the Far East for a 25 hour flight and 2 hour drive home from airport. There was about 4 hours of daylight left after getting into the driveway; after leaving Singapore about 29 hours earlier..
Before my suitcases were opened I got in a three hour bike ride. I had been away from the bike for about 2 weeks.. I was thinking about getting on the bike all the way across the Pacific.. I had to go to work the next morining..

There are professionals in the medical world who could cure you of such an addiction. Avoid them at all costs.

Heah, Media Creations. Crossing the International Date line, it was the day before I left- as I recall. So why not?

Pete go for a ride by all means but dont go any where near work !! to-day i had a rare day off so i went for a pure pleasure ride of 55ks some of it along roads ive never riden before, on the urban bit of my ride i encounterd the usual motorists negligents & selfishness that i encounter on my commute, but to-day it didnt worry me , i had a smile on my face & wave , were as on my way to work id,e skowle & bang on their roof,s. may be i need a new job !

I'm with you on this, however, let's advocate shortening the workday prportionately as the daylight hours dwindle ;)

I don't really go out of my way to increase millage, I live 27 miles by freeway and 34 miles by bike from work. I combine my commute with a bus ride. I take the bus to north seattle in the AM and ride 7 miles into work. In the afternoon I take the bus to a park and ride that is 14 miles from the house. On an occasional Friday I will commute all the way home ( more frequent in the summer months). Heres another sign of the hold this addiction has over me last month I needed to do a brake job on the truck well before I could get it in I took my bike to my LBS and heard the newws I have been waiting to here for a while. Overhaul to the tune of $300+ USD the bike got fixed the truck sits idle, which is a good thing! And Media I was checking out your website for the ride the other night very cool! Good luck!
An idle butt is the devils fat depository!
The thing that told me my cycling was addicting was the withdrawl I go through when I don't ride for a couple of days. I get real depressed, angry, edgy. Sort of like quitting smoking. So, I try not to let the days between rides build up.
Another similarity with addiction is how cyclists will sit around telling their war stories, like addicts after an NA meeting. The older more advanced cyclist smiling slyly at the newer member and say something stupid like "I've freewheeled more miles than you've fixed."
And finally, there is always a "new drug" to try, like "you gotta try Ti, or Carbon. The stiffness of aluminum, the gentlness of steel." Like drug companies, bike builders put a lot of money into R and D, to come up with something a little quicker a little better, and of course there are companies out ther building knock offs, they know there is an addicted public to prey on.
