Kind of reminds me of my High School metal shop project. Sophomore year, 1975. Chopped my Schwinn stingray. Made the fork and sissy bar. Has front and rear Shimano disc brakes. Just thought I'd share that.

Yes, the rear disc was from a Sears Free-Spirit "10 speed". I relaced the hub to a red anodized box section 20" rim w/red spokes. The front disc was an aftermarket kit that I relaced to a rear Cooks Brothers hub. I used the CB REAR hub because they were better than the cup/cone chrome hub that came with the kit. I wanted the disc and caliper to be on the right side of the bike for show purposes, but when you applied the brake, the disc would unscrew. So I ground down the center section of an old freewheel and made a lockring out of it. Works like a charm. BTW, the front disc was added in '77. They are both Shimano.

awesome, I was born in '82 and discovered cycling on my own in 1990 - i had no idea some manufactures were putting disc's on bikes decades prior.
