Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Rolf Vector Comp/hubs for single speed use

I have a very good trade worked out where I can get a set of these wheels. I am wondering how difficult it would be to make these wheels single speed. Also will they work on a vintage schwinn super sport. This is the 80's Tenax tubed one that is relatively light. This will be replacing my Mavic Module EE2 700C wheels. I am really weirded out by going from 36 spokes to so few. I am also pondering just keeping the wheelset for a geared bike build. I have the 16tooth freewheel but the Rolf isn't thread on. I am new to this. Eventualy I would like to start building my own fixie/single speeds.

I don't know anything about making them fixed but I use these wheels on my road bike and despite the low spoke count they've been bomb proof so far.

The Rolf wheels take cassettes, not freewheels. The hub contains the freewheel mechanism, and is thus called a "freehub". To make it a SS (assuming it is a Shimano compatible hub), you need a cassette cog, spacers, and a lockring. Luckily for you they sell them in a kit. Also, Endless Bikes (http://www.endlessbikes.com/products/components/index.html) makes a cog and spacers that will give you the proper chainline.

Spokes might be hard to get should you break one. The Vector is a Trek era Rolf and Rolf Prima does not have them. A regular spoke will work, and they look like aerolites so you could go that route.

Rav - I've called around to a few LBSs in my area and they all had bladed spokes that would work

I thought I did to, but I had a guy break one this weekend. I had a regular butted spoke that put him back on the road but no aero spokes that would fit thru the unslotted holes, that were also short enough to work.
I called Rolf and they had none either.
