Thanks RONH for the welcome. I've been following the forum for a couple months and really enjoy the conversations. My wife and I have been rding for the past 6 months and enjoy it more each time. Usually 8 milers a day 5 days a week around our development. This morning we went, for the first time on a trail, to flatwoods (off morris bridge). It was really great. Except for some soagy feet from a low water crossing.(I need to figure out how to put the embarrassment smile into the message) The weather was perfect.

It's an excellent forum and I hope to be good contributor in the future (as I get more experience).

Hey Arnold,

I'm down in Sarasota, and extend a big Florida BikeForums Welcome to you and your wife. I've ridden Flatwoods and many other trails in and around Tampa. Believe it or not, there are actually a lot of places to ride in FL. One of the best/closest places to ride is the Alafia River State Park near Lithia. (SE of Brandon).

If you want some info on a very active local club and directions to a lot of the trails, check out www.swampclub.org there is another group of riders in and around the Lakeland area www.ridgeriders.net.

Send me a PM when you ride next, and I'll see if I can come up and ride with you.

Just click on the smiley that appears to the left of the message box. If you want one that isn't shown, click on "Get More" and a long list of smileys will open up. :roflmao: :angel:

Or you can type the word between a pair of colons [:] --> :beer: : beer :

Some of them can be inserted by typing certain keyboard characters --> :D : D

Thanks a2psyklnut, I heard that alafia is more MTB trails. I didn't mention it (but I should have:o ) we're into road cycling. We've been here a little over 2 years (we're transplanted NYers via Austin, TX) and, have heard about pinellas trail, fort desota and the friendship bridge - over the bay. We live in Brandon, which isn't far from Sarasota. I got the brochure on the swamp club. I think they are more on MTBs. Another one someone mentioned was the Freewheelers.
