Last year, around this time, I was looking for a mountain bike frame and had a HARD time finding my size (21-22). They just seem to sell out fast.

Now l'm looking for a cross frame and it looks like the Double Cross will be it. If I order one now do you think I'll get the Tange Prestige tubing or Reynolds 631? Soma says it's all chance but considering I'll be getting a 60 or 62 they couldn't possibly still have any 631's left. It isn't a deal breaker but the Tange is supposedly an upgrade.

Does color correlate with the tubing? Comments?

I just got a 60 that came from Hawley (the distributor) - My LBS called before ordering and supposedly all of the doublecrosses Hawley has are 631, not Tange.

I'm 6'2" or so, but have a long torso and tight hamstrings, so I need a more upright fit and shorter seattube than most my height.

I've been looking at the Soma for over a year and for some reason haven't taken the plunge. Today I came up with what may be a better alternative: Interloc Crossfire. 853 tubing and smartbikeparts.com has the frame only for $389 shipped. It looks very similar to the DoubleCross though it supposedly weighs in at 3.9 lbs in size 54, which is .3 lbs lighter than the Soma. It looks like Interloc isn't making them anymore since they are not in their 06 lineup, so hard to say if they are actually avail. I sent an email to the shop and they are checking on availability.

Story of my life. All gone. Guess I'll have to wait for the Soma Tange Prestige frames.

But how long do you wait? I wish that the 631 frame were $20 less or the Tange $30 more because at least you'd know what you're getting. Still, waiting (and dreaming....) is part of the fun!
