...of a local xc race corse. If xc is not exciting enough form some mtb'ers then they should try this course. I have done dh on it which is even more brutal then the xc course but yeah, lots of riders get f***edup. Well here is the description forom a local rider:
Urban XC at it's best
"Please don't come out and race this XC course. Not if you don't want to race, probably the most interesting and unusual XC course I've ever come across. It ain't no froo-froo set up. It's Bad Ass Urban XC at it's finest! Imagine climbing up a long hill with a giant abandoned incenerator on the ridge next to you, looking like a Pink Floyd Animals album cover. Bleak nuclear looking wasteland! You wonder if you'll need a gieger counter in your hydration pack.
Unbelievable S/T. A hundred ways to get med-evac'd off've this mountain. High speed blind corners, with boulder drop-offs and imbedded rocks on the ramp-up. Jump back behind the seat, then fling yourself forward, pulling up the front wheel hard. Twisting and turning through the big boulders on a roller coaster course that's trying to kill you.
Then you climb through abandoned stolen vehicles that have been torched and cut up. A huge bomb shelter protrudes from a hill side, rusty steel frame of a door that must've been five inches thick. Dance your way through urban wreckage and then climb up a ridge line for an incredible tough singletrack descent with plenty of nasty surprises. Round a corner and your faced with a double down arrow descent. OMG! A way-too-steep hill drops away and widens out, dozens of deep wheel eating ruts criss-cross each other. Add deep braking bumps. I go to the outside and the bike skids sideways, I almost go over the side to tumble down, but I dab and try to get back on. At the bottom, as if it wasn't bad enough, a big imbedded boulder field makes it a challenge, just to put your front wheel through!
It's so gnarly, that Rich and I are going to pre-run it again early before the race tommorow. You're pulling out every trick in the book to race at this place baby! Fontana does not suck. Dino, my ride partner got there later and when he pulled up from his pre-run, he said "What sick masochist designed this course?" Nuff said."
