BMX - I get my own track!!!

Since our backyard is only used for our dogs to poo on, I convinced the wifey to let me build my own track.

I have to sell a K2 frame/fork & a Schwinn MTB to get the $$$ for a couple of dumptruck loads of dirt. I also am borrowing a tiller from my parents.

My Hometheater room is right next to the backyard, so I can open the sliding door & jam while riding.

I had been building a track in some woods near my house, but none of the other riders in my hood were helping build it so I told 'em to stickit!

I have 2 trees in the back yard, so I don't want to have to cut through the roots that are about 6-12" below the surface. Also I want hella-berms.

If it wasn't for the roots, I'd just dig down...

better to not dig out holes.

The berms could cover any small trenching I will be doing.

From past experience of digging in HELLA wooded backyards (haha mude...) Once you get like 2-3 feet down...theres nothign but clay and niice dirt...
But the neighbors dont like 5-6 foot holes that they can see from their windows, but then again nor would they like the "piles" of dirt or "motocross" track you would build there either....


I guess if you have the money its not soo much of a waste to get a truckload of NICE not-so-rocky dirt...

I read what you quoted. I don't expect the average house to have a chainlink fence or a glass partition separating their property from their neighbors'.

Careful building up a lot soil anywhere under the dripline of those two trees. 90% of the roots of most trees are in the top few feet of soil. Raise the grade by more than a few inches and you cut off oxygen to the roots and risk damaging the trees.

I did happen to know that though. I used to do landscaping for a living (back in the day). I will be outside the outer diameter of the dripline.
