Seems like there's some interest in hooking up a few members (fixer, bernmart) for a weekend trip. Call it a "shake-down" cruise, training session, weekend getaway, B.S. session, whatever. It comes down to this...there's actually some doable overnight tours around L.A./O.C. that doesn't require a big commitment of time or energy.

I'm always up for short trips to test equipment, get some training miles in and just get away from the city. I like riding alone, but I also like company once in a while to bounce ideas off each other (and to drool over your LHT's :) )

Possible overnight trips:

1) PCH north to Leo Carrillo or Sycamore Canyon
Hiker/Biker sites, showers

2) PCH south to Doheny, San Clemente or San Onofre
Hiker/Biker sites, showers

I mention these particular rides because of the no-hassle factor: easy hills, nice scenery, mild weather, Metrorail accessible and no reservation required for the campsites, around $5 per person. (I really would like to try touring the local mountains, but maybe later in the year when the weather warms up.)

March 18-19 is good for me, but I'm totally flexible. So if you want to meet some of your fellow bike forum members for some camaraderie, test that new stove, or just go for a ride...let me know and we'll set something up.

This is going to be a lot of fun! I am not able to make it until sometime after late March but after that I should be able to juggle my schedule for most any weekend outings. Your 2 options sound good and I'm up for either one. I am just itching to load my LHT as I have only ridden this bike for occasional commutes to work and some Sat morning group rides....:)

fixer...no problem on the scheduling. Just PM me when you're available. I'm planning on doing a few local tours this spring.
