Hi,

I ride a lot now (car free) and want to avoid injuries related to lots of cycling.

I remember a physio once telling me about bikers knee where the illoptial band becomes so tight it pulls on the knee. I had it at the time from basketball despite not cycling. He basically moved his forearm down my quadricep to remove the knots. SO MUCH PAIN!

How do I avoid and treat things like this please!

You can massage and loosen your IT band yourself. Either get a round foam roller or a "stick" or you can DIY. Get the big stick if you get one, it's more versatile. Personally I like to sit in the hot tub and just rub my IT band myself.
