Tandem Cycling - new member...we just got our first tandem.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
We went for a couple rides before the wife left for work....we both really like the bike.

Cool! Was this your first time riding a tandem?

the first time since I was a kid.......loooooong ago ;)
We were going to get two bikes, but we decided to go with a tandem instead.
After riding it, we both are happy we went with the T.
Its bottom line, I know, but our income level wont allow for a $2000 bike at this point..
Its just for riding, not for competition or anything...so its good for us *IF* it is a good bike.
Ive been out of biking for so long Id never heard of Diamondback :D
It's like a Visa commercial. You bought a reasonably better quality "bargain" tandem. Hopefully, you and the missus will really enjoy it. And if you end up changing your priorities to get a better one, or just ride the wheels off this one, that's priceless.
Cheers.

Congratulations... it looks pretty sweet to me. I got a similarly spec'd entry-level tandem last year (2005 Raleigh Companion) for use with my autistic sister-in-law, and it's been lots of fun... you two should have a blast! :)

The first tandem by husband and I rode was a Diamondback Wildwood as well. We had it for two years and it worked out great for us. We learned a lot on that bike. We had a lot of arguments those first few years. Ah the memories...
In 2004 we moved up to a Road Cannondale and we love this bike as well. In fact, we are attempting our first Century this year. Enjoy your bike and the time you have together.
thanks everyone.
We really love the bike.
we went out for about an hour today....it was great....rain was coming so we had to hurry back.
I think this bike is perfect for our specific needs....we just want to ride really.
i think we'll change the seats to something a little less...erm....painful ;) at some point tho.
Most likely we'll keep this bike and ride it till it literally wears out.
We're going back to my hometown this weekend for a week so we're going to take the bike with us and ride there too if its not raining.

That's the ultimate test! As nearly as I can tell, you are the only two people in the entire world that bike has to please.
The only bad part of it is we live on the third floor...so we have to wheel it up and down two floors and the turns (2) are almost too narrow to get the bike thru .

"Almost too narrow" means that it's not. That's why you have two riders - so you can guide it up and down the stairs. As Bill W's friends all say: "Keep coming back!"
