got any tips for keeping feet warm/ xc riding

i really like to ride in the winter and even in the snow. My whole body stays pretty warm, but my feet are a different story. My feet get cold easy and then i'm miserable and don't want to ride. Does anyone have and secret tips or suggestion for keeping feet warm.

Looser shoes\socks? you need a warm air barrier. 2 pairs of tight socks are worse for trapping moisture than one looser one.

You need a pair of winter cycling shoes that are bigger then your summer pair. On your feet wear one pair of lightweight synthetic "liner" socks. Then over those wear a medium weight pair of wool/blend socks (SmartWool work the best for me). The first layer will allow your feet to breathe and move and rub against the wool socks without blistering. Basically, with those two socks on, find shoes that fit over that combination.

Then you need some neoprene shoe covers to go over that to block the wind and cold.

As far as the Smartwool socks go, the Cycling Light is a good sock, but I use the Hiking Light Crew, even though they are not available in white, like the Cycling Light.

Wool socks (the longer the better - i.e. almost to the knees ... Kodiak socks are great)
Thin pair of socks under the wool socks
Large shoes (one size bigger than you'd usually wear)
Loose shoes (don't snug up the laces too much)
Booties

And if all else fails .... heat packs.

and worst case.. toe warmers trump any temps...
