With 50,000 members you would think advocacy should be easy. If only we could agree on a common goal (and how to get there)!

Yes, very funny. On a more serious note, some of the recent polls have suggested a more or less even split on some of the more contentious issues. Since these are unlikely to make much headway in the near future shouldn't they be considered long term issues? Finding a common and modest goal that can be set for the short-term future (say 6 to 12 months) should be feasible.

How about since only a few people are killed in bike - car accidents, that we direct resources to just getting people on bikes? Then once the death toll gets to something respectable like 1600, (number of motorcyclsts' killed) we can worry about safety. Hell more people drown than die in bike accidents, you dont see swimmers clammering for justice.
