Mountain Biking - FSR or Adept

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. A friend of mine is using this name to ask a question:
I currently have a Klein Mantra Race. I ride intermedeate/advanced XC. I need to upgrade to a larger frame. I was thinking either an Adept, or an FSR. Please those of you who have ridden both bikes help me! I love Kleins, but they cost more. I want to get the one which rides better. I'll pay the extra for the Adept if it's worth it. Which should I get ? I know that I can sell my Mantra for $1,000, I will spend more money if needed. Thank you for your time and interest.

I've never been too big of a fan of the Mantra's suspension design, and for Klein bikes for that matter. It seems Gary Klein was always doing things a little different just for the sake of "Being" different, not necessarily better. I just read an article/interview with him in the latest issue of DirtRag, and after reading it, I like him even less!
I think that Klein's are very well made bikes, I just never had the fascination and lust for them that made the added expense worth it. I will add though, that I almost bought a Klein Mantra Comp that was on closeout. I don't remember the model year, but it was bright yellow!
I have seen the Adept Pro, and think it is a sweet bike. It's design concept is similar to the Gary Fisher Sugar and the Trek Fuel with just a slight modification to the suspension linkage.
With that said, I personally like the 4 bar Horst design on the Specialized. I think it's a better bike for the money. Just ask Raiyn, he just bought one!
The FSR XC is a proven design that has been copied by many companies. Being copied is the best form of flatery! The FSR XC is used by a lot of racers throughout the country.

hey,
my dad has a mantra and i have an FSR and have ridden both. Overall the FSR is a better handling bike, it's less squirmish down hill, doesnt brake jack like the Mantra, but gives up a tid bit in peddaling to the Mantra, but that's just barely since by design it stiffens up under pedaling. Overall i'd definately go with the FSR

Thanks!

my bad, about the adept other than the frame it'll ride a lot like a sugar(same pivot pts and everything) but i cant really say how the adept'll ride compared to the FSR
