Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If you are in Northern Indiana, I'm leaving for a spring ride from Here in Lafayette to Lake Wawasee and back! See y'all in a week! :D Here's an approximation of my route from Gmaps Pedometer site

Have a good trip. I'm right behind you; heading out to Death Valley, CA ASAP.
Your attached maps sure show a lot of railroads. Are there a lot where you're traveling - or are they just presented differently on these particular maps?

Update: Indiana!
The weather went south on me, snow expected tomorrow. I still did a 106 mile weekend ride, to more or less Peru, Indiana and back using the WRCC route for Fort Wayne to Evansville here's the URL,

There are a lot of rail routes in Indiana. As they are abandoned, there is a movement to make them bike trails! Yeehaw!

Tom--I feel your pain. Im in Martinsville below Indy and it was 70 this morning and now the temp is dropping (strong winds too). Winter here sucks. I have to wait till May for my trip. I like riding here on the back roads--corn and soybean fields as far as the eye can see. I hope they do make the rail routes into bike trails!
Oh - thanks for the maps!

No problem, Dave! Keep an eye open for me on the route! I plan at some future point to ride the whole thing from Fort Wayne to Evansville! :D
I love the solitude though, so I am a solo rider for the most part. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy riding with other cyclists as well, but if I am pushing hard, I crawl into my own head and ride the pain if ya know what I mean! Drop by my blog if ya want at http://theamazingshrinkingman.blogspot.com or the MSN address on my profile, either one!

So where did you stay up by Peru? (or are you a stealther?)
I'm in W. Lafayette and went for 8 miles straight into that 25 mph wind today. I thought I would make it to Otterbien, but the temp was dropping more than I had thought it would, so I turned around and had an AWESOME tailwind run back into town.

I grew up in bloomington (which wasn't all that long ago...) and the winters were just terrible. Slushy all the time, and unpredictable as hell. At least now in minnesota I know it's just gonna be cold the whole time.

I was going to stealth, but the weather was too bad! I wound up in this cheap, crappy motel owned by a branch of the Patel Family! Generically known as Hindu Inn! It was clean and dry though! Just cost too much!
 Are you one of the PCC Cyclists? Drop me an email if you want, or a PM!
