BMX - brake pad rubbing

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

on my schwinn matic, one of the rear pads rub on the rim. From what i have noticed the arm or h/e you would call it does not retract from the wheel. So when pressing the lever it will just push harder on the rim, but when u let go it doesnt retract. But the other side retracts fine, i did notice some rust when i took the arm off, could this be the problem? would grease and some cleaning solve the problem? oh btw this is a u-brake system

your wheel might have shifted and could be sitting crooked. check the spacing between the tire and the chainstays on either side of the tire to see if its even. if theres a lot more space between the tire and chianstay on one side, then thats your problem

You do that too often. I am surprised you don't have brain dammage.
For your healths sake, you might consider not going to this forum any more. Then again if you did leave I would too(along with others perhaps)because the only reason I go on this forum is to see you(and a few others)waste on ******* with dumb questions.
You might want to consider your options.
Mikey, that's the problem. We have a member here that doesn't have much in the way of grammar skills, but wants to know how to work on his own bike. There are stupid people everywhere, so get over it. This kid just needs some extra help in expressing himself, and we need to have a little more patience in explaining things. Beerman is within his rights to punch himself in the face to blunt the pain of reading the above post, but perhaps someone with a bit more time on their hands can walk the Russian through this.
Once upon a time, we were all in his shoes. Except for me. I'm so old that it's hard to fathom me not knowing stuff. Although I didn't have to deal with a U brake until 2005.

Take it too a local bike shop, or freind that knows what he/she is doing.
Its the best way NOT to mess stuff up when you dont know what your doing...
And it shouldnt cost that much money...
