It just hailed big time here in SF, my first time biking. Yes, the specialized crossroads can do ANYTHING! Also, a specialized infinity tire doesn't do well in snow when well-worn and under brake pressure :)

You call that snow?? You can still see the pavement!
Seriously tho, I always figured riding in hail had to be like riding on icy marbles. Generally speaking I will not ride if there is lightning and probably won't do it in the hail unless I get to ride in it immediately after a storm passes.
Forum specific: I ride in to work tomorrow at 5:30 am with temps expected to be in the 60's.. maybe rainy... I don't expect to leave work any earlier than 10pm with the forecast calling for snow by that time. @%@%Q@ Ohio.

I'm also a 5:30 - 6:00 am guy. Weather sure can change in a 14 to 18 period.
Try living here. Chinooks (warm winds from the pacific coming over the rockies) reek havoc with the weather. Its not uncommon to ride in in -20c, only to have it climb to +10c in afternoon for the ride home. It can also go the other way when cold fronts can stream down from the arctic in zero time. All these weather changes in winter have a way of turning snow on the ground into glacial ice. The crazy thing is, we have one of the highest per-capita year round cycling populations in canada.

Didn't know about the per capita thing. Pretty cool. I can't give any sympathy though.
Winnipeg winters are in a word, BRUTAL. The roads suck. The motorists seem to have it in for you more than anywhere else I've been. Anyway, that's my vent for the day.
I've ridden out west before, gorgeous part of the country.
