Hi everybody,
My name's John and I've just moved to the Louisville area (Clarksville, IN, right across the river from downtown!) from deep in the central wilderness of Kentucky (Campbellsville, if you're a MapQuest fiend and have nothing better to do). I've been back into cycling for about ten years now and have found myself to be something of the odd man out around here. See if you can choose the item on this list that doesn't belong:
1. 4x4 Pickup truck
2. Banjo
3. Pabst Blue Ribbon
4. Liver cheese
5. Campagnolo
6. John Deere
That wasn't too difficult at all, now was it?
Okay, I just recently bought a new Trek 4500 Disc mountain bike and it's proving to be almost perfect for hammering around downtown Louisville. The discs work great in the rain! I had broken the head tube on my trusty old Schwinn Moab around Xmas and had to do $omething.
I've just this week finished assembling my Gitane fixie and have been struggling with the intricacies of riding fixed, such as how my brain refuses to accept that we can't just STOP pedaling. That ends poorly and quick.
Earlier this week I found a 1999-2000 Cannondale/Saeco CAAD4 team bike outfitted with a full Record group in one of the local bike shops and it's never even had pedals put on it! I'm probably gonna end up buying it but there's an issue with the wheels we need to get sorted out. The original Spinergy Rev-X "lawsuit" wheels were taken off and replaced with a set of Dura-Ace wheels. Not only do I think you can't run a Dura-Ace hub/freewheel with Campy indexed shifters, but neither does anyone else I've questioned about this.
Anyways, after lurking for quite some time it's good to be here officially. We're having a fairly serious thunderstorm at the mo' so I guess I get to ride the computer this morning...lol
