anyone use this pedal for a non freeride application?
do you notice the extra weight on the bottom of you foot?

I use mallet m's for XC, DH, whatever.
I do not notice any extra weight.
I have Time ATAC Z's, which are in the same spirit as the mallets-dual sided clipless with platform. No, you don't feel the weight unless you are the weeniest of weight weenies. The platforms have saved my noob XC ass multiple times when I was next to a drop, looking at it and seeing if I had the balls to go down it. Sometimes, I forget to back off the edge a bit and just go for it, with only one pedal clipped in, trying to clip the other in as I enter the drop. If it doesn't clip in, the platforms keep me from wiping out. I don't know what would've happened if I had gone with plain eggbeaters. My foot may have slipped off and introduced Mr Happy to Miss Aluminum.
