The Family Fun rides are mapped out - the shorter ride is about 13 miles, and best suited for a MTB or hybrid - chip & tar, gravel & dirt roads with a bit of real pavement... The longer ride is about 30 miles of pavement, with a little chip&tar road at the end... some good climbing on this ride.
The trails at the park are ride ready... and almost race ready.... we've got over $4000 of prizes to give away, so come ride with us!!
I can't wait!!! I just hope I get out of my rut before then.

Did someone knock you into a ditch and you can't get out?
Pretty much. I've done 15 races in the last 15 weeks. I think I need a bit of a break. This weekend I will be at Harper's Ferry working my arse off selling our Duck's products so that won't be exactly the type of break I need. So in an attempt to get somewhat of a break I am dropping the intensity of my training down a little and just doing longer rides and trying to take a few extra rest days. I'm hoping that a few 60 mile days with some nice climbs will help out my endurance a bit.

And repeated soaks in hot tub with a nice glass of wine.... relax! Flick will break something on his bike that he won't be able to afford to fix!!
I would prefer to just get faster than him. I just don't know if it is going to happen or not. :(

All in good time, LowCel... Flick got into MTBing after spending 4 years running cross country at college, and doing it in HS before that... he was fast on his feet before he even rode a MTB! You, on the other hand, have made unbelievable progress!
I feel your pain lowcel. I feel like I'm just now coming out of a rut following all those consecutive races. Am really beginning to look forward to the App. classic. And this time will be bringing my chain tool.
kmoses - I'm planning on pre-riding on Saturday if you want to meet up for it. I am going to be camping out as well. I always have a great time at this race.
I'm just hoping my bike will be ready. I'm finally going to get a chance to work on it from the last race (revenge of the rattlesnake). It is in pretty bad shape.
Sounds good. I got a message from James saying he was going to do a preride this past sat., but I was in Pitts. I can meet you there anytime after 11 am. I won't be camping out though. Plan to sleep in Morgantown. Haven't gotten to sleep in my own bed for 3 weeks
The rattlesnake sounded brutal. Hope your equipment is ok. I was pretty burned out after racethetrace, struggled to get just 7 hrs/week in for the past 2 weeks. I am stoked for this weekend though :D

Lowcel - make sure to touch base with me or the kid - hubby usually cooks up a bunch of pizza in our pizza oven on the back porch.......

I need to remember to pick up a case of salsa to donate as well. That is if you are still accepting donations.

ALWAYS accepting donations! Thanks!
That is if you are still accepting donations.A race promoter NOT 'still' accepting donations? Unheard of! :) Hey LowCel, if you have a case (or even a couple bottles) of that good stuff you'd like to send to Washington, we'll help make Duck's a household name in the Pac. NW too!
We have a couple of races (off-raod TT and a Nationals-qualifier XC) coming up this month in Spokane that I'm helping out with the publicity:

Just picked up a big portion of our prize package today (about $3000 worth of stuff:D ), and with the other stuff we've already recieved, the Calssic will be handing out: a Park bike stand, a RAV xt2 trainer, a Sun Rim wheel set (disk), Selle Italia saddles, quite a few hydration paks (camelbaks, other brands), NICE bike shorts, multi tools, lots of quality tires (Maxxis, Panaracer, Continental, Kenda, etc.), grips, mud fenders, lights, wireless computers, schock pumps, tire pumps, LowCel's excellent Duck Salsa, Cannondale bags, lots of the humongo bottles of Cytomax recovery mix, etc....... in addition to the fact that you will recieve (1st 150 racers) a T-shirt & goody bag & post-race meal.
Unless you're point hunting, why go to Vermont? It will rain there, anyway  , so come to "sunny Cal" & ride with us!

Oh yeah - and let's not forget the Champion Bowls going to the fastest male & female Expert racers! two fastest 2 lap sport racers (M&F) get free New River rafting trips from Ace Adventure Center..... that's in addition to the cash (experts) and the prize table (sports).
Wow, hope I make it to the prize table for this one!
dminor - would love to help you but I think we are going to stay local on this one. Shipping would be pretty high so it probably wouldn't be worth it.

apclassic - sounds like a lot of great goodies. If WV wasn't so doggone far, I'd want to come for sure.
Good luck to you all on everything!

The 2006 Appalachian Classic is OVER :D - submitted the race results about 8:15 p.m. to iplayoutside, and I'm kicking back a few beers. Had the pleasure to meet KMOSES and chat a bit, everybody who was left at the venue for the prize ceremony got something, and we had a few items left over to pass along to the next WV Point Series race.
Met one lady, with a HUGE bandage on her thigh, on one her arm, and her face all scraped up - she said the EMS patched her up at the bottom of the Power Slyde, and she went on to finish. I was IMPRESSED, cause she looked
Anyway, we ended up with only 113 racers (NORBA in VT, Extrerre in VA and Father's Day), but gave out over $1500 cas to the experts, and raised at least $1200 for the park - a good day in Sunny Calhoun!
Almost hit the "submit" button before I remembered to mention - LowCel got 2nd, as did my kid, and LowCel's Mexicano Salsa & perrer butter ROCKS!!! (Duck's brand)
The race was awesome! Thanks again for all the work you put into it.
I may have ended up second but I still feel that I had a fantastic race. Unfortunately I lost the sprint up the final climb and came in between five and ten seconds behind the winner. It was a blast! Jason even gave me a call a little bit ago and we talked about it for a while. You don't see too many races that end up that close.
I'll do my best to post up a race report before I head to the Slatyfork Shuffle. Five days of mountain biking, hanging out with friends and enjoying a couple nice cold refreshments by the fire.

Glad you enjoyed it. Just for the record though it's "pepper butter". ;)
The race was Excellent! Definitely one of the better venues in the series and very well organized. Wish I could've hung around for the prizes but with the 2 hr drive back to Morgantown town looming before me I was ready to get on the road and get it over with.
Good to meet you too apclassic.
Lowcel - so when do I get to have a taste of this salsa?
Lowcel - so when do I get to have a taste of this salsa?
I'll do my best to remember to bring you some the next time we get together or at the next race, which ever comes first. Let me know if you decide to do any Ohio races, I'll do my best to join ya.
BTW everyone, results are posted (http://www.iplayoutside.com/Events/2006/06/7327r.html)for the race.
Excellent! I LOOOOOOVVEE chips n' salsa. The hotter the better.
Will keep you posted on the Ohio races. There's one at Mt. Perry (Battle of Turkey Run) on July 9.
