More info on the Family Fun Rides - Saturday, June 17 at 11 a.m.
One ride will be about 13 miles, on a combination of pavement, chip & tar, and dirt roads. Might be better suited for a hybrid or MTB than a true road bike. It will be a liesurely loop around the neighborhood...

The longer ride will be about 30 miles, on pavement, except for a really short trek (@2 miles) toward the end, which is chip&tar. This ride is better suited for road bikes.

We will also have some beginner MTB "lessons" at the park, so if the folks want to ride the roads, the kids will be kept busy!

The camping is free, bring your own picnic... the Kids Races at 3 are on 3 different courses - the 6 & under set will pedal aound cones on the golf course, the 7&8's will hit the golf course and little bit of walking trail - all in the open. The 9&10's scoot across the golf course and hit the walking trail, and the 11 & 12 year olds get to hit a short trrail through a bit of woods. Afterwards, you can all watch (or participate if you're at least 12 years old) the wackos do the pond jump. We have a beater bike with no brakes - but lots of flotation - which contestants pedal down a hill, onto a ramp - and into the pond. Informal judges rate the jumpers on gymnastic ability, splash appeal, and other dumb things.

The XC race is Sunday at noon - and we have plenty of beginner classes in addition to the WVMBA race classes... free t-shirts & post race meal.... a great way to spend Father's Day weekend with the family!
