Commuting - Check out this guy's commute.

Wow, guy works for Lonely Planet. That's cool. I like this bit, "Hey roadie! This guy didn't even give me a return nod." Seems it's something that happens there too.

One of the coolest things I saw in Australia was all the bicycle routes. This was in Brisbane. I wasn't into cycling then and I still noticed the little bicycle path markers everywhere. Lots of people on bikes - not like Asia but still more than here. Now that I'm into cycling...makes me jealous.

Whats the deal with the critical mass flyers? Looks like we need some O dat over here!

Hey, I ride past that Lonely Planet building every day on my way to/from work. I'll have to look out for that guy !

I tried taking some pics while riding in today. Mostly 'cause we just got some snow this weekend, and the snow level on the mountains was much lower than normal. It looked really cool. Most of my pictures, however, looked really crappy.

There's a thread over on the fixed-gear forum titled "show your roll" or something like that, that has a lot of great riding pics in it.

I come from the Gold Coast which is 45 minutes (by car) south of Brisbane and it's the same there with the bike lanes. It helps when you have Directors of the Council heavily involved with road cycling, and a Mayor who is an ex-olympian. Unfortunately there are still some d1ckheads in cars (as with many cities) who believe you have no right to be there. The Gold Coast has two car-free crit tracks and attracts many world class road and triathletes to the city for training, in the off season from Europe. Not unusual to see Robbie McEwen training there.

1) He's taking pictures of himself while riding single track and our illustrious President can't ride and wave while riding on pavement???

2) I saw "1.5 hours" and the picture of his mtb, and thought, "Why the heck isn't he riding a roadie or at least a cross?" Then I saw the rest of his pictures. Now I get it. :)

3) No longer will I complain about not having a roadie for my 5-mile commute each morning. (OK, I'll still want a road bike, but I'll complain less about it). If he can do 30k each morning on an mtb, I should be able to do 5 miles on mine, right?

That guy has The Right Stuff.

As the sign at his workplace read, "Gawd it's exciting down here."

That sums up his entire ride!

That looks like quite the fun route. Maybe I should try to vary mine. It's getting a bit boring.

pretty awsome ride! so, he's metric and I did a little math, he rids about 19 miles, and at an hour and a half he's averaging 12.6 MPH, now given that he's on a mountain bike, AND has to come to a complete stop several times in traffic...THIS GUY IS HAULIN! Especially when he does it in just over an hour! That takes his average speed up to like 18-19 mph! Pretty sick!

I'ld take pictures of my ride, but, aside from the sunrise...it's not very pretty :-)

That is the neatest, cleanest, most organized universe I've ever seen.

Sweet! I am so jealous, my commute is nothing like that. Also, the company seems to be pretty bike friendly to have those cool racks.

One of my favorite threads when I first started reading the forums was pics from peoples commutes here in the Commuting forum. There were a lot of awsome shots. Real advocy I'd say. If someone has a shot or two to start a new Commuting Pictures thread I'd vote for it being a sticky. Great stuff.

I believe I would find a picture thread interesting also. Plus, it would give me a reason to take my digital camera along on my commutes.

Jealous doesn't begin to describe what I'm feeling right now.

My commute features a depressingly small amount of green, bridges and bike paths...

This guy has inspired me to do the same. This morning I took my camera along and took snaps all the way. My commute starts way further out from the city than his, and ends almost exactly where he starts, 28km distance. I think my commute is as nice as his. I'll be posting a mammoth thread when all the work's done. Prolly take a week or so.

I think I might do some photographic bike journalism myself.

Wow, now that's a ride! On a number of occassions, I ran to work instead of my usual bike ride. It was about 5-1/2 miles. Trouble was, by noon I couldn't stay awake. I was even nodding off in meetings. I wonder if he has that problem.

I always thought my commute was pretty boring.. Now I know it's worse than I thought... I wouldn't mind riding that far to work if it could be like that.

i bet LA looked just like that... 1000 years ago. :D those aussies sure have their stuff together. his commute rawks my sawks.
