Bicycle Mechanics - Thanx for all the tire input!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Thanks to all for all the very valuable tire info! You guys are a tremendous source of good information. It looks like I paid $56 for the wrong tires (2 Michelin Axial Carbons). I thought I was getting a rugged, non-flat tire. Next time, I will get the Specialized Armadillo turbos. But for now, I will try to get my money's worth out of the Michelins, since I am a man of modest means. I did buy two self-sealing tubes from Bike Nashbar for $5 apiece, and put those on. Maybe I will also add a Mr. Tuffy to the back tire. I guess a light racing tire with a heavy self sealing tube is counter-productive, but when you're new to biking, one does make some expensive mistakes! Thanks again for all your valuable input. This Forum has been a tremendous revelation to me. Happy Thanksgiving to all. PS: Is $56 for 2 Michelin Axials a good price? (includes handling and shipping). I got them from Road Tires Direct. They were very prompt. I had them 2 days after placing the order on the internet.

They are $35 each at Nashbar, plus S&H

The best price I've seen on them is from a LBS, $29.99 plus tax.
Out of curiosity does this 'Road Tires Direct' have a web site?

Alex, I hate to tell you this, but you are an absolute piker compared with Jobst Brandt.
He is the most skilled sarcastian(?) the bicycle world has ever known. He even ended up on my kill file list. Alex, you are nowhere near my kill file list.
You need to improve your sarcasm, Alex, to be considered first class!!
