Howdy,
Has anyone found a roof mount that a small kids bike can be strapped onto without removing the front wheels?
My wife and I have a couple Diamond Back Approach bikes and have always used a nice trunk mount for them. But over the years we've accumulated a couple kids and a couple more bikes. We're heading to Florida later this year and want to take the bikes along. I'm willing to purchase a Yakima or Thule roof rack for our Honda Civic but I need some info on what mounts will work with these small wheeled kids bikes. Our daughter has a little "Barbie" bike with the 16" wheels and training wheels (which can be removed of course). And our son now rides an 18" wheeled bike. Some of the product descriptions I've read mention 20" wheels as minimal for their mounts. Anyone have any luck with a roof mount for this small of a bike?
Thanks!

I don't have much experience with roof racks so I can not give an opinion on that. Have you considered a trunk or hitch rack to carry the smaller bikes? It might be easier and less expensive.

Yes, we already use a Yakima Mighty Jo 3 bike trunk mounted carrier. But it will only hold the two large adult bikes. We need additional space for the two kids' bikes. That's why I'm looking for a Yakima or Thule roof rack. But I need to make sure that there is a roof mount that will actually do what I want it to do.
Thanks!

You didn't say where in Florida, but many coastal vacation areas have bike rental busniesses. It may be more cost effective to forgo buying the rack for now and renting bikes for the kids once you get there.
