We just got our new tourers yesterday! :D
We were going to get the Schwalbe Marathon XRs but our bike builder had trouble sourcing them so he put on Vredestein Spider tyres instead. Seemed good on the ride home last night but they need some more testing.

Another vote for Schwalbe Marathons here, though my review is limited by the small number of brands I've actually tried. I'm no one-man 'Consumer Reports'. I've never tried any of the Contis or Panaracers, for instance, and have no basis for comparison.

Amusing notion. I think this forum is mostly Americans, but I can't bring myself to correct an Englishman* on correct English usage. :D

I'm more inclined to be riding on a high pressure tyre on tour, and have been riding both Conti TravelContact 700x37 and the Pasela Panaracer T-Serv for messenger 700x35s.
Both are fat, 700c tires rated to 90-100 PSI by the manufacturers. I don't believe the Schwalbes can run that much Kp, but i haven't checked the sidewall ratings of schwalbe 700s lately. i thought they were more moderately rated in the PSI.

I really like the "Vittoria Randonneur Pro Touring Folding Tire" in 700x37. They aren't mentioned much in these forums. I took a chance and bought a few pairs when they were on sale for $12.99.
Light and fast, only 430g, not as beefy as some tires, but never had a flat in 2000 hard touring miles (running with liners). I prefer these over the Panaracer Tourguards.

I like the Vittoria Randonneurs too, though I didn't have the folding tire. My Bianchi San Remo originally came with the regular Randonneurs, and they were wonderfully responsive on the road.
I actually never saw the rear Vittoria tire on my Bianchi to its natural death - I mounted my U-lock rather stupidly underneath the bungie cord that held up all my camping gear to the top of the rear rack. Some many miles later, I realized that the U-lock slipped down and had rubbed against my rear tire for a sufficient amount of time that it was worn down to the red rubber underneath! I had thought that I was just experiencing poor form, but it was really me dragging this friction weight on my rear wheel for 20+ miles. Oi. I replaced it briefly with an Armadillo, but it was so damned heavy that I junked it before its time. Since then, it's been nothing but Schwalbe Marathons.
