A cross-post from the fixie/ss forum.

I'm scoping out cheap carbon 1 inch threadless forks for my commuter ss/fixie.

I note Performance have a cheap "forte axis" fork
(http://www.performancebike.com/shop...ategory_ID=5232).

I'm used to the la-la lovely carbon fork on my Specialized geared rbike, so have no clue as to how such a cheap carbon fork will do.

Anyone any experience with the Axis fork? Any idea if it will last a reasonable length of time and feel ok?

I have one, the fork is a Kinesis. It went on a tiagra-level city bike I built up in early December. They are sold for over $150 under the Kinesis brand name... It is reasonably light, it came in under 400g with the steerer cut for a 57cm frame. I believe the 1.125" version comes with an aluminum steerer tube, the 1" might be CrMo and heavier. It is very stiff. No complaints.

Here is a photo with the Kinesis paint job, from the Kinesis UK website

Nashbar has a decent generic fork as well if you want some rake. It also doesn't have any stickers if that is important to you. I have had great luck with "generic"/re-branded parts. A firend has the Axis, and it looks sharp and seems light (hard to tell when its on the bike!). I would have bought one, but I am not a huge fan of the straight legs.

Excellent - tks. At 70 smackeroos, it's worth trying out.
