Hello everybody! I have a 2005 Norco Havoc and have a cracking noise coming from it. I have tightened the cranks to 300 lbs tourque but still never helped the cracking noise. I was thinking that maybe my bottom bracket needs to be tightened. But I have a problem. What tool should I use? It would be nice to check on e-bay to see if there is any there that could help me! Thanks alot!!!!
Unless your BB is odd or an external bearing type, you'll likely need this:

you should check to make sure the chain ring bolts (the 4 bolts that attach the crank arm to the rings) are not loose, as well as that, your pedals could be loose too.

whoa, i dont think i can tighten my cranks to 300lbs... on my last bike i used a torx wrench and ratchet and i stripped the bolt or whatever (inside of the bolt, where the allen wrench should fit) but i dont have that problem because that bike got stolen..
as for your issue, i'd second tightening your pedals or chainring...
good luck

Just incase it helps anyone, the noise only comes form the non-drive side (side with no chain, lol). Also it only happens when I put a nice bit of pressure on the pedel. (eg, when I pedel up hill) I just tightened the crank arm and pedel, but still no luck. It didn't help a single bit. Please help! I can't stand that noise!

Are you sure the noise is coming from the BB and not the chain? Have you lubricated the chain recently?
