Got a hefty dividend from REI, thanks to an REI Visa and a bad habit of buying bike gear.

So we thought that getting a new Bob trailer would be a good use for it.

Took the bikes over to the local REI and hooked the one they had on display up to my LHT. It was the new model with the short fork. We were discussing what to do about the rubber mudflap on my bike's Planet Bike fenders, it was hitting the trailer. As we were chatting about that, a guy came up to us and asked if we were looking to buy a Bob, he had one for sale.

Yeah, we were interested. He lived a few blocks away. So we politely told the folks at REI we wanted to think about it, and headed over to see the one this guy wanted to sell.

He said he got it a few years back and took it on one tour. It had been sitting in his garage ever since. He said his wife would love it if he cleared it out.

Underneath the dust and cobwebs was a Bob in very nice condition! He wanted $100 for it. Plus it was the fork model for 700c wheels. It was exactly what we needed!

It's amazing how things work out. We were both happy.

Now what to spend the dividend on....?

:) You are one lucky duck! :)
Good news, I stopped in to my LBS and the frame for the LHT came into the shop while I was there so they pulled it out of the box, unwrapped it, and let me have a peek. What a pretty bike! I can't wait to see it when it's built! So what are you gonna do with all your panniers now that you've got a U-Haul for bikes? Are you going to do any single track? :D

Congrats on your frame! Hope you get ot ride it soon! What size did you get?

We are going to keep the panniers we have. We both have a full set (4) of Jandd Mountain panniers, plus Jandd Expedition racks. We may use them again someday.
I also have a full set of old Novara panniers that I use for commuting and I can't wear them out!

We are using the small Jandd panniers with the Bob trailers.

I got the 42cm. The frame is so small it looks like it should be up on the fireplace mantle as a biker's decoration. :p
The BOB trailers are nice to use, and what's funny is when you're in a group and you're the person with the trailer you do one of two things --
carry the watermelon or carry the beer!
